Be Still My Sweet

Here's a song I wrote for Haiti (while in Haiti). It's called "Be Still My Sweet."

Here are the lyrics:

BE STILL MY SWEET
By: Justin Ahlgrim

The sun makes faces through barbed metal wires
The dust flies and dances across my feet
The rocks do do-si-do's and twirls and spirals
The light breeze softly kisses my cheek

A tremor ripples and chills down my bones
The concrete cracks in two across the street
Dreams and castles fall down on their own
And screams form a melody in Haiti

And the ground trembles and shakes our fears
As the God who sees all things falls asleep
And we cry out "Jesus, Jesus! Be near!"
And He calls, "Be calm! Be still, my sweet."

The waters crashed o'er the sails and the deck
As twelve desperate sailors gritted their teeth
How was their teacher, their Lord in a nap
While they were dying?

And the ground trembles and shakes our fears
As the God who sees all things falls asleep
And we cry out "Jesus, Jesus! Be near!"
And He calls, "Be calm! Be still, my sweet."

"Ye of little faith.
Do you know you're not alone?
Be still. Do not be afraid
For I am with you in the boat!

And the ground trembles and shakes our fears
As the God who sees all things falls asleep
And we cry out "Jesus, Jesus! Be near!"
And He calls, "Be calm! Be still, my sweet."
And He calls, "Be calm! Be still, my sweet."

And He calls, "Be calm! Be still, my sweet."
