Walking With Jesus: Take A Break

Walking With Jesus: A Study Through Mark
What follows is what I feel Jesus is teaching me as I read through the Gospel of Mark

Lesson 3: Take a Break

Mark 1:32-35 - "That evening after sunset, many sick and demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. The whole town gathered to watch. So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and He cast out many demons ... Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray"

After doing a heck of a lot of ministry, Jesus decides to do something in the middle of it all ... nothing. He takes a break. He gets away from people. He finds a place to sit. alone. and pray. to take some time off.

I can't remember the last time I took time off. I don't think I've ever (?) taken a full sabbath to remember that its God who makes me holy (Ex 31:13).  And I don't think I necessarily need to; I'd like to. But, I mean, through the new covenant of Jesus Christ, it is clarified that the Christian Sabbath (Sunday) is all the same, still just a day (Rom 14:5-6) in which we can use to honor God.

But I think in the midst of ministry, of work. In which we are doing 6 days of work, its very much important to do what Jesus did, take a break. Get a up a little early maybe and take some time to pray. do devotions. watch the sunrise, watch the sunset.

i've found that when the world is crashing down on me, what helps more than anything, is to take a break, to go biking or running, to get out, take a walk.

i should do it more often.
